The Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund is a much needed and welcome injection of cash into England’s rented property market.

Leeds City Council secured money through the funding to revitalise three 17 storey residential blocks in Lovell Park as well as the 17 storey Parkway Towers plus Parkway Court and Parkway Grange, both of which are 15 storeys.

Work began in February 2023 and appointed main contractor, Equans, selected Hamilton to deliver the external wall insulation as part of the multi-million-pound project. The buildings were worked on concurrently, which was a challenge as some were within 100 feet of each other with little compound space for materials and storage.

The talented team at Equans created a site set up that included a bespoke storage system to house all the required items, meaning multiple trades could work alongside each other to turn the project around in time and on budget.

Hamilton’s trusted supply partner Wetherby Building Systems provided a first class WBS Stonewool A1 Mineral Render System, with stunning results. Stone Wool Insulation is a consistent density, high strength, rock Stone Wool slab with a water-repellent additive specifically designed for use in external wall insulation systems.

It is odourless, rot proof, does not sustain vermin and will not encourage the growth of fungi, mould or bacteria. In addition, the A1 System sets new standards in external wall insulation fire performance.

Regular site inspections by the insurance underwriters were carried out throughout the project so everyone had peace of mind that the work was being completed by competent companies using skilled operatives.

James Dawson, who is Commercial Manager at Equans, said:

Once again, Hamilton showcased a level of expertise that surpassed our expectations and turned challenges into opportunities.Their commitment to excellence and attention to detail make them a standout partner for
EWI. We know that we can get on with all the other aspects of the project while they carry out their work. Not only are they experts in their field, but they are a great team to work with and we look forward to partnering with them on many more schemes.

Matthew Storton, Site Manager at Lovell Park, added:

This project was both challenging and rewarding and everyone pulled together to overcome any potential obstacles and deliver first class results. My colleagues Sam Greenwood and Robert Vasille, Site Managers at Parkways, along with our expert teams worked hard to ensure that deadlines were met with the highest standard of workmanship and everyone was delighted with the end results.

Kirsty Haley, Operations Director – Commercial, at Hamilton said:

Matthew, Sam and Robert, along with their teams, did a sterling job on this project. With all buildings being worked on at the same time, the Hamilton and Equans teams made sure everything was in place for a smooth delivery. Well done to everyone involved, from initial feedback the residents are delighted with their new homes.
