Back in May 2020 the government launched a new Building Safety Fund. This would fund the remediation costs of unsafe cladding on high-rise buildings 18m and over in both the private and social sectors.
The government specified in their ‘building safety advice for building owners’ which types of non-ACM cladding were considered unsafe.
Additionally, the regulations set higher standards for construction materials, fire-resistant cladding, and emergency response systems. The government’s commitment to the initiative sought to prioritise the welfare of occupants and ensure that buildings met stringent safety criteria.
