We’ve just completed another exciting project in Hounslow with Mulalley & Co.
We applied EWI to the PAS 2035 standard to 26 homes, utilising funding from the Social Housing Decarb Fund.
Site teams installed Soltherm’s impact resistant Endurance W+ Silicone and Ultimate HD Dash systems with their Deco X Mosaic for below DPC/plinth level.
Due to the funding and PAS requirements this scheme had a lot of design input carried out by Retrofit Designers, Coordinators and Soltherm.
Contracts Manager Pete McNulty and Site Manager Kath Mansfield lead the project, which started with carrying out pre-installation building inspection and identifying any design issues that the Retrofit team needed to find solutions to.
There were immediate challenges identified including differing substrates on some properties. Each house was to receive 140mm mineral wool insulation but, due to a protruding 800mm high cavity brick band to the ground floor, we changed the specification to install 110mm mineral wool to the brick areas with 140mm above to create a level surface.
In addition, we have had to borescope each property to ensure the cavity is empty to avoid any thermal bridging or condensation risk issues.
Other design considerations included curved walls, ornamental brick bay windows and even giant gallows brackets that support the roof on some properties – but our fantastic did a great job as always!
